In turn, members receive a weekly share of the harvest while the local growing season. The arrangement guarantees the farmer financial keep and enables many small- to moderate-scale organic family farms to remain in business. Ultimately, Csa programs create "agriculture-supported communities" where members receive a wide collection of foods harvested at their peak of freshness, ripeness, flavor, vitamin and mineral content. Many Csa are non-profit organizations dedicated to getting fresh, local, seasonal foods to the citizen that can appreciate them most.

One main benefit would be that you would be eating real food that came from real farmers. Think, is it important to know the origin of your food--who grew it and where! With all the horrifying stories of food contamination in the news lately, it is a health risk not to know. Yes, we can eat food flown in from colse to the country, or colse to the world, but at what cost? It seem that in the 21th Century many citizen are focusing on eating more locally produced fruits, vegetables, meats and fish.

Most Csas offer a diversity of fruits, vegetables, and herbs in season; some furnish a full array of farm produce, including shares in eggs, meat, milk, baked goods, and even firewood. Some farms offer a single commodity, or team up with others so that members receive goods on a more nearly year-round basis. Also, note that I did comprise Fish. There are some Fish Farms that becoming complicated with Csas.

A Csa season typically runs from late spring straight through early fall. The estimate of Csas in the United States was estimated at 50 in 1990, and has since grown to over 1012.

The goals of society Supported Agriculture keep a sustainable agriculture theory which . . .provides farmers with direct outlets for farm products and ensures fair compensation.

Directly links producers with consumers allowing citizen to have a personal relationship with their food and the land on which it was produced. Makes nutritious, affordable, wholesome foods accessible and widely available to society members. Encourages permissible land stewardship by supporting farmers in transition toward low or no chemical inputs and utilization of vigor saving technologies. Strengthens local economies by keeping food dollars in local communities. Creates an climate for learning about non-conventional agricultural, animal husbandry, and alternative vigor systems not only to the farmers and their apprentices, but also to members of the community.

Boomers.. One of the strengthens of American is that we can feed our people. But, one of the major problems that we are overlooking are the small to medium farm that have to potential keep us, are going under.
